  1. We have been working on tweaking and adjusting a whole bunch of things in the Builder databases over the past couple of months and have been waiting to complete all of those changes to satisfaction before releasing the material.

You should be receiving these changes before the end of the day today. They cover a huge number of fixes and small updates to things that either had problems with the transition to 2.x or didn't work the way we wanted them to. I'm working on some more detailed notes covering these migrations, but the big things are:

    * A substantial decrease in the number of Common Elements available, and they are now offered to you in groups by type of element, then alphabetized within those groups
    * All hymns and collects should now be properly sorted as expected
    * The collects unique to the Treasury of Daily Prayer are now included and searchable within Lutheran Service Builder
    * All Rites have received a pass to eliminate language that was altered or broken with the 2.x transition (no more Baptismal blessings everywhere)
    * Other inconsistencies in the data have been fixed or adjusted where needed
    * The number of search results will no longer display duplicate results from elements not properly following "Builder 2 style"

We'll be going through and altering the status of bug reports to reflect these changes through this afternoon and tomorrow. If you notice anything not working properly, please let us know and we'll take care of it.

  2. I got the data push and the files are update, but like most of the previous data updates, the process is really slow. I started it around 9:30am (CST) or so and it is still applying the migration (1:15pm). It is at around 90%.

  3. Mine went REALLY quick. Bill I what type of connection are you using? I am also wondering if there is a set up in your network which is slowing it down...

  4. Mine is going extremely slow also right now. What kind of setup on network can slow it down. I see sqlservr.exe NETWORK SERVICE is using about 50% CPU usage continuously. What happens if I end that process?

I would advise against ending sqlservr.exe! What the data update is doing is running a large number of SQL commands on the SQL Server. (These are basically applying all of the changes that Ryan has made over the last couple of months to your hymnal and lectionaries automatically.)

I wonder why some people's updates are going so slowly. It seems like the speed of the process varies so greatly that the difference is not just in your different hardware. Ryan and I will look into this a little more and see if there's something snagging for some people and not others.

Pomeroy, would you send a "System Report" when your update process has finished?

  7. OK, is "System Report" from LSB 2 or from Windows? My install is still running after 19 hours with about 2 more green blocks to go. This is really holding me up from other work. Except for occasional email checks and forum updates I'm not doing anything else on the computer except running the installation. Would it slow things down if I use Word to work on other things?

Go ahead and use Word and other things.

"Submit a System Report" is in the your Start Menu: in Program Files \ Concordia Publishing House \ Lutheran Service Builder 2.

    Sorry for the egregious wait!

  9. I have the LSB installed on a Laptop and a desktop. Both are Dell XPS systems purchases within in the pat 12 months, so on the mid to higher end of permorance. The laptop installed the update in 5 minutes. The desktop, as I noted took something like 7 hours.

What differences are there between those computers?
Does one have a 32-bit processor and the other a 64-bit one?
Do they use different virus scanners?
Are there any applications you think noteworthy that are installed on the desktop but not the laptop?

Would you send one system report from each machine? (The system report sends a variety of that kind of anonymous information.)

  11. My install finally completed in about 22 hours. When started program it asked to do another install dated Feb. 10, which I presume is the one I just finished installing, so I cancelled. Program seemed ok so I closed. Went to Program Files \ Concordia Publishing House \ Lutheran Service Builder 2, but didn't see 'submit a system report' or anything similar in the folders. Did see 'sendlogs.exe'. Is that it?

I'm using a Dell Inspiron E1705 laptop purchased July 2005 with XP Media Center Edition Version 2002 operating now with Service Pack 3, Intel CPU T2250 @ 1.73GHz, 795 MHz, 1.00 GB RAM and with 49.3 GB Free.

  13. Well how about this for my virus scan I am using the free version of AVG for my firewall I am using Zonealarm. Dell Dimension DM051 Intel Pentium D CPU 2.66 GHz, 2.50 GB of RAM

  14. I believe I completed the installation yesterday as reported. I'm showing version 2.1.11.19593. However, each time I open LSB 2 I get the following notice:

Lutheran Service Book data update February 10, 2009
    Size: 15800.5KB

    Migration notes:
This update contains a number of fixes and adjustments to the data included with Lutheran Service Builder. For more details on this change, please visit lutheranservicebuilder.com.

If this is the same update I did that took 22 hours to complete I don't want to do it again. I'm afraid to let it run. Please advise.

    Pomeroy,
This is a pretty significant update. Go ahead and turn it down until we release a patch that fixes the problem with extreme slowness on certain computers.
