Please post information about the "Concordia Organist" add-on subscription for LSBuilder. Please include pricing structure, delivery method, usage and output options.

  2. We do not have information on pricing we can share at this time. Be assured that we will be talking about this more as we get closer to a release. We're currently in the middle of creating it.

    We can share the following:

    * An active Internet connection will be required to use it.
    * It will support the creation of CDs with the appropriate music on them. Builder will not play the music directly.

  3. Now that prices are listed ($499), we're definitely interested. If we're planning to use it with Builder, should we pre-order the CDs, or will there be some kind of downloadable alternative?

  4. The pricing for Builder will not be the same as the CD option, and will not technically be the same product. Builder's Concordia Organist option will be an extra subscription rather than a one-time cost.

The Concordia Organist for Builder will be a downloadable option only. It will retrieve only the music it needs for a specific service or for a preview as it is called for.

If you would like to have the CDs handy, you could certainly pre-order them now, but Builder will not make use of the CD-based Concordia Organist.

  5. OK, that's important to know. Thanks. Any info on pricing/availability for this option yet so we can work it into our budget? Our people are very excited about this and have been practically throwing money at me to get this started.

Safe to assume it'll include the liturgical elements, too, right?

Also, given this, say I want to use an additional song that's not from the hymnal. If I have the MIDI or an mp3 of the accompaniment, will it be possible to squeeze that into the right place on the CD that Builder creates?

  6. Oh, you already answered the question about liturgical elements elsewhere, so disregard that question.

It will not be possible to squeeze a third party MIDI or MP3 into a Concordia Organist CD. Also, we have no plans to add that functionality. However, I've made a note that you asked about it; so it's something we will certainly discuss the next time we revisit the Concordia Organist drawing board!

Okay, up front I am technologically challenged to say the least. I don't know a MIDI or MP3 from a milk cow (well, I suppose I could identify a milk cow 2 out of 3 trys). We do have a hybrid electronic pipe organ which supposedly has MIDI capabililities (whatever that means). It also has a gizmo attached, upon which the organist can record hymns for my Saturday evening service on a floppy disk. She has taught me how to work that. We're a small congregation with only about 20 average attendance for the Saturday evening services, so we probably will not ever have an organist for them.

Now, getting to my question. Will the Concordia Organist add-on allow me to provide all of the music necessary for a liturgical service through the organ I described above? And will it be in a form that an aging, not so bright pastor will be able to use without great frustration? If so, can you give me some idea how that is likely to work? Also, any time frame for when you hope to have it available?

  9. Concordia Organist is designed to output hymns from Builder onto a CD that is then played in a CD player during the service. It's not designed to work with programmable organs or keyboards.

Concordia Organist will hopefully be released within the next two weeks.

The Concordia Organist add-on was released today in a patch for Builder. Update your copies of LSB with the most recent patch and you'll be able to experiment with Concordia Organist.

It will prevent you from actually burning CDs until you purchase a subscription, however: naturally.
