Is there a way to import the jepgs from CWLP into Service Builder or do I continue to add it after exporting the service into the word processing program? Doesn't really seem like it would save time but thought I would try something different. I can't find a way in Builder.

I have a custom resource I created based on Matins. Mostly, I've simply added more hymns, the introit, and additional readings. However, when I create a service based on this liturgy, the Opening Versicles are missing. Yet, when I go to "My Liturgies" to check this resource, the Opening Versicles are there. Not sure why they would be missing when I create a service. Anyone have any thoughts?

My licensing is up to date. I have checked for updates and there are none to be had.

I realize that it is very possible that my question affects no one out there, but I figured I would ask anyway...

Has anyone tried to run LSB in a Ubuntu WINE environment?

I have tried to do so using Ubuntu 10.4 and the WINE environment native to it. The file downloads just fine but does not install correctly. The problem I have is that SQL Server 2008 Express does not seem to be able to load. Apparently SQL 2008 requires a Windows Vista/7 file to make it work that WINE cannot "recreate".

I have been fiddling with Ubuntu for a while now to see if it would work as a replacement for Windows and I have been pretty happy so far, especially with the use of WINE. LSB has been my first program I was not able to load/operate using WINE and I am hoping someone may have tried before and found a way to make it work.

I recently redesigned my WordPress blog site, and was really impressed with the different "layouts" and appearances that one could choose between (submitted by the community of WordPress...ers). At the same time, I was redesigning our church bulletins, and I shared it with a few friends, who promptly asked, "wow, did you do that in Service Builder!?" I had to respond that, no, unfortunately, I designed it in Publisher (as a template) and just plug in the propers each week. (can be viewed here. http://pastordbeck.wordpress.com/2011/12/12/new-bulletin/)

I'd like to suggest some sort of venue for the sharing of these files. Whether they are shared as Templates for Microsoft Office platforms, or somehow integrated into the Service Builder itself (strong preference for the latter!) I think it would be a great way to collaborate in worship planning, and in designing and producing worship materials for each Sunday.

Attempting to put together a service using Matins. Following the Scripture Readings, the heading appears for "Responsory" but there is nothing there.

The workaround is to hit "Insert" then browse through Matins and re-insert the Common Responsory. However, when I do that, I get the little yellow warning triangle that says "This element is usually omitted during the season of Advent."

I have not been able to find ANY resource that says that the Responsory is to be omitted during Advent (including several individuals who worked on the "Lutheran Service Book"). I think this is just an error in coding - especially since the Common Responsory is omitted in Vespers during Advent. There is an Advent-specific Responsory for Vespers (but not Matins - there is an Easter-specific Responsory in Matins that does not appear in Vespers).

I'm running 2.3.1.26192. (Checked for updates before posting this - there weren't any.)

I saw a discussion from a few years ago where it was being "considered" to add the pointing for the Proper Prefaces to the available material in Lutheran Service Builder. Is this still being "considered"? It would be very very very helpful if you would add this material.

Also, will you be adding the daily office seasonal antiphons to the available material? Again, this would be very very very helpful.

And as a side question, will you be adding the two forms of the Prayer of the Church (Responsive, p. 442-443; Ektene, p. 444-445) to the available material? Again, this would be helpful.

In preparation for a wedding, I wanted to use the wedding stanza of 922 Go My Children, with My Blessing. However, when this comes up in Builder, it does not insert the wedding stanza in the middle of the song but instead puts it at the end as text only, while leaving stanza 4 with the music. The only workaround I've come up with is printing up only stanza 1 with music, and then switching to text only and manually inserting stanzas 5 and 4. I would like to be able to export them all with music, though, since there are only three stanzas. Can you help me with this?

Thanks!

Hi,

I have a request/idea for the "melody" display format for exporting into Powerpoint. I'm very familiar with notation software, so I understand the limitations when working with notation, but I'm wondering if it would be possible either to allow a customizing of the font for the Melody display, or to change the default font to one that's more suited to screens. Even a bolded version of the current default (I think it's just Times New Roman, right?) would be much easier to see on a screen.

For a few hymns, the default line/page breaks don't work well (is there a place to either request changes to that?), so I've created custom versions for our congregation. To keep consistency I use the same font, but made it bold, and it's much easier to read. (As an aside, is there also a place to report "bugs" such as missing slurs on the notation?)

Ideally, a font with a larger x-height, or other features that make it seem "bigger" at the same point size, would be better, such as Tahoma or something like that. If this is a feature request for a future version, please file it as such. I know it's probably impossible to simply allow the user to choose whatever font (though that would be amazing!), but considering a different default would be a worthy idea, IMO.

I am working on a worship series that I hope to share in LSBX format (among others). Some of the Introits/Graduals are from propers appointed in previous hymnals but not currently available in Builder. (current version - 2.3.1.26192)

I have seen in other posts that the "Create Custom Elements" tool in Builder is the same tool used to create the standard elements. As I'm typing in the custom elements, it would be nice to be able to point them like the other Introits/Graduals. The online documentation for Builder 2 does not include the "Creating and Managing Custom Worship Resources" for me to reference.

Is there a way for me to include chant pointing in my custom elements?

In the file for Advent II 2009 I imported the Creative Worship data into LSBuilder. When I did, there was no text for some elements (Lord's Prayer, Preface, Creed), presumably because there were only headings in the CW file. This means that powerpoint users would have to paste the texts for these back in in order to create slides from within LSB. Mary C. plans to correct this in the future. However, I suggest that it would be easier if the Creative Worship imports were only ADDED to the LSB file. That way, one could choose either the LSB Confession or the CW confession etc. After all, the point of CW is that we be "creative" and pick and choose from the elements available. When you bump out all the LSB items, you remove options.

I routinely use LSB on two different computers, as I work out of two different offices regularly. I've discovered a relatively good way to "sync" the databases. I use Windows Live Mesh and have set it up to sync the "State" directories on the two computers (I also sync with the sky drive, which means I don't have to have both computers on at the same time for it to sync. I then "back-up" LSB every time I finish working and "restore" it when I begin.

Unfortunately I don't always remember to back up and then have to check which computer has the latest files.

So here is my suggestion/requests:

1) Can there be an option that either automatically back-ups/restores LSB on start up and closing, or at least an option to have a pop-up window ask if you want to do that?

2) Allow for an option that you can add the computer ID to the back up, so that you can know from which computer a back up was made?

Thanks,
