This weekend we were finally able to install LSB 2 after 33 update patches from this website. Our organist is on vacation for the next three weeks. We were able to offset the cost of Concordia Organist add-on vs a guest organist during this time frame. It was worth the investment. Our congregation had nothing but positive feedback on the music. A little practice on my part with the Benediction portion of the service, (timing issue) but the service went extremely smooth. Thank you. Sue

I'm happy to see this new beta release - especially removing the duplicate services from years past that were showing up on the "Upcoming Services" welcome screen. I believe you're making real progress in resolving some long-standing problems and making v.2 a valuable program. Keep up the great work!
Pastor Jeff Wilhelm

Good morning,

I had earlier posted my frustrations with LSB 2. However, I wanted to report that I have now produced my first bulletins using LSB 2. I would like to thank you for your hard work with this program. I am beginning to see and understand the positive changes you have made. For example, the program gave me an excellent hymn choice tied to one of the readings that was not included in the Hymn Selection Guide. As I work more with LSB 2, I'm sure that I will find many more time-saving gems like this.

Thanks again!

Yours in Christ,
Pastor Brian Crane

Ah, in 'Browse', the list is all out of order; but we've fixed that; you'll see the change when the next data update is made public: probably this week.

In the service outline, I click on "Hymn of Invocation" and I have four tabs - Suggestions; Search; Browse; Write My Own. I click on suggestions and get a list. Under Search there is just an empty box. Browse is a really weird list that kinda looks likes a list of topics, but nothing is in order. Write Your Own gives me a lot of confusing options that I need to experiment with. In the 2 minutes I just took to play with it, I can't figure out how to actually write a hymn stanza and save it.

There must be something that I am missing, because I do not see any of the options that you wrote about. Currently, if I want to browse, I use the print edition. Its much faster.

Perhaps, could you tell me more about how you'd like that to work? Right now when you search for hymns, you probably see something that says "Show hymns" and has an arrow by it and something that says "Sort by number" and has an arrow by it. You can click on those to change the search filter and how the results are sorted. One of the options for sort is "alphabetically." That's what I picture when you say "search...alphabetically" Does choosing that do what you want or are you asking for something different? Thanks!

The dedicated search feature for 2.14... is a wonderful thing. The hymn search is greatly improved. The only thing I cannot do that I could do before is search for a hymn alphabetically. Perhaps that could be in a future version or patch?

You're very welcome, Andrew.

Your imagination is somewhat correct; both Bob and I are graduates of St. Louis in addition to being "tech guys". We do what we can to anticipate your needs, but the forum is something vitally important to us to gather more information from those of you out in the field and how you're actually using Builder.

Your feedback and the feedback of our other forum users has been invaluable in making Builder a better product, and we look forward to serving you for a long time to come.

Thank you so much for having a place to send any difficulties, issues, or questions and for taking the time out of what I imagine to be the crazy busy life of a software developer at CPH. I also imagine one has to be part computer expert and part pastor to be able to understand the needs of your users.

These past two weeks were the time God has given me to work out the worship of our church for February and March and try to get on board with Builder 2. Since Bethany uses both the LSB and the Builder software pretty extensively with a variety of different services, I figure that is the reason I ran into a lot of issues in a short amount of time.

Thank you again for the time and the responses and the work you are doing for the church.

I appreciate that clicking on an element like the Alleluia Verse yields an instant list of the alleluias in all the liturgies (including those from the altar book and agenda) as well as other hymn options. In SB1, when one clicked on the option: "I would like to see hymns that can replace the Alleluia" one would get an empty list. I very much like the smart lists that are available with one click. This is most helpful.

You cleaned up the music graphics for the service of Matins so that when you select "leader" or "pastor" only one appears for the benediction, not both. Also, the antiphon only prints one line appropriate to the season, instead of all three. These were long-standing issues in SB-1, so thank you.

I am getting to love Builder 2 a lot! I just used the Creative Worship downloads to produce service folders with LSB 2 for our three midweek Advent services. They are working wonderfully together. I was confess that I was not initially impressed when trying the beta download of 2, and I seriously wondered why you were changing a good thing. However, I am convinced now that you made a good move. LSB 2 is an excellent product, and I'm loving it more than LSB 1. Thank you.

Many of the changes we made were intended to make things easier, not harder.

I did it. I made a service folder from Service Builder 2! So it is working. I have to work a little harder, but I can see that it has made a lot of progress from when I tried to use the earlier beta. I expect some of my problems will get straightened out over time. For now, it is working for me.

OK -- so one more post - but this one is all positive!

The exporting to Word 07 is awesome. It is so clean compared to the .rtf format of LSB 1. I haven't used any hymn graphics, so I can't comment on that, but the fact that there are no sections in the doc is awesome. It makes the final clean ups so much easy. All I have are hard and soft returns. Again, Awesome!

That alone is a great reason to move to LSB 2.
