Deadlines--BAAAADDD, Styles--GOOOODD

I see its been a year ago since the last post on this so I thought I would reintroduce the topic. I've also noticed that sometimes "hard returns" (enter) are being used where "soft returns" (shft-enter)should be placed in places like psalms, prayers, creeds. etc., which spreads them out over the page as well. By fixing the dead lines and hard/soft returns much time and heartache could be saved by the end-users.

Any ballpark projections on the web-based version of Builder you've hinted at?

Perhaps you've figured it out already, but if not...

On the Builder page where you set up the service (add hymns, insert elements, etc.), you should see an icon at the top of the window in the shape of a video projector. Click on this, and your Power Point presentation should appear. You can then save the .ppt file and use it with Power Point. Hope this helps.

While looking for something else, I found a potential solution to the original post. I realize that Lent is long gone, but perhaps this will be useful for the future. Let me start off by saying that the workaround is a little clunky, but it will work.

1. Create a service using the "Empty Service Outline" option

2. The next screen should be the "Insert Element" screen. You may need to click on the "Insert" button to bring up the "Insert Element" box.

3. Click the "Browse" tab

4. Under "Choose a Liturgy", select "My Worship Resources" > "Services" > "Year" > "Month". Within month, you will find the individual services you've created. Click on the desired service.

5. This is where it gets a bit clunky. All of the elements of the selected service are now available to be inserted into the blank service, but you have to drag and drop the elements of the selected service into the blank service. Note that you'll have to do this element-by-element, though dragging major headings will bring all of the elements within that group, cutting down a bit on the amount of dragging and dropping.

6. What you now have is a new service based on a previous service.

I am working on a worship series that I hope to share in LSBX format (among others). Some of the Introits/Graduals are from propers appointed in previous hymnals but not currently available in Builder. (current version - 2.3.1.26192)

I have seen in other posts that the "Create Custom Elements" tool in Builder is the same tool used to create the standard elements. As I'm typing in the custom elements, it would be nice to be able to point them like the other Introits/Graduals. The online documentation for Builder 2 does not include the "Creating and Managing Custom Worship Resources" for me to reference.

Is there a way for me to include chant pointing in my custom elements?

Stephen,
This is a great suggestion. I assume you are talking about the layouts meaning the line breaks and indentations as they are presented in the Lectionary volumes. I will put a suggestion in the repository for consideration in future releases and updates.
Thanks for your question!

Is there an electronic version of the Lectionary texts (the lessons) as they are laid out in the Lectionary volumes (either as part of builder or separately)?

I appreciate how the lectionary lays out the texts - I think it improves the reading of the texts ... IF you have the opportunity to prepare before hand. I would like to email the texts as they are laid out in the lectionary to our lectors prior to the service in which they read. Unfortunately, lending out the lectionary would not be practical (especially seeing that we would have to lend it out to three different people each weekend).

I realize that I *could* scan the lectionary and produce my own PDFs, but I would rather save myself the work (and avoid "potential legal issues").

John,
Our sincerest apologies for not responding to your inquiry sooner. Organist does not at this time have the Easter Vigil as part of the recordings. You could in theory find melodies from the other liturgies and create a disc for the service by splicing together these different parts. Yet, that is defeating the purpose of stream lining that Builder provides. I will make a suggestion in our ticket repository to include the Easter Vigil for Organist in future releases.

Hi,

Does the Concordia Organist through Builder support Easter Vigil, (i.e., Lux Christi, Exsultet, the long Proper Preface, etc.? I started to look at it and the only music that shows up in the burn list is the music for 930.

Well here I sit feeling like the worlds silliest person in the world. My wonderful husband decided that I needed to have windows 7 on my computer. I warned him time and time again that he needed to back up everything for Lutheran Service Builder before he did anything. Well guess what! He didn't! So I am starting from scratch on my settings. Grrr, you would think the husband/Pastor would realize tat makes life hard on the wife/secretary :)

Well anyhow I have about everything how I want it, BUT for the world I can't find where it is that you change the page size! We use 8 1/2 by 14 paper and I know there is a little box to check that makes it that sixe for everything you do, but I can't find it! HELP ME!

Pastor Meyer:
Not sure if this has been solved for you yet, or if I completely grasp the question, but here's a go. When you are in the bulletin preparation screen, you can choose (from the tool bar at the top) to have an element appear with its text, with its melody or with its setting. By selecting to have just the text appear, the chant lines should not appear. I am assuming by chant line you are talking about the chant tone melody.
Hoping this helps!
The collects from the agenda are not currently included in Lutheran Service Builder. Yet, the funeral service is included in Builder and can easily be exported from the program to a word file as you would any other service. And, as always you can edit the service elements with in the program.

Friends:
As a novice user of Linux, your question interests me. It seems to me you have a grasp of the situation and its hang ups. LSB's dependency on .net is quite a roadblock for this type of implementation. I have a feeling future versions of Builder may circumvent these issues.

Pastor Naumann:
The psalm tones as accompaniment have been left out of this version of Lutheran Service Builder - The Concordia Organist. To be completely honest, adding them in the future as accompaniment for chanting could be quite the undertaking. Although, it is currently possible to add them as intros to congregational chanting.
I will make sure your suggestion is added to the LSB tickets.
