Welcome!

Welcome to Lutheran Service Builder version 2.0! We think you'll be very excited by the changes in version 2.0 and the improvements throughout. Please read this guide before downloading installing the product.

New Installs of Lutheran Service Builder 2.x

Before you begin, please note that Lutheran Service Builder requires several components to be installed to Microsoft Windows. These components will be automatically detected by the Installer. If necessary, the Installer will download appropriate installation files from Microsoft and then will install the appropriate prerequisites.

Your computer may require a reboot up to three times during this process. The Installer will inform you if a reboot is necessary.

Depending on the number of components missing and certain features of your computer hardware, a first-time installation of Lutheran Service Builder 2.x can take up to 90 minutes. You may perform other work on your computer during the installation. If you are running Windows Vista, you may be asked several times to confirm the installation of system components. Click Allow each time you are prompted to continue the installation.

If you would prefer to install the prerequisites separately, please see the article Installing Lutheran Service Builder 2.x for Advanced Users.

Please perform the following steps:

  • Download the Installer by clicking here and clicking to download the 2.0 Installer.
  • Run the Installer by double-clicking its icon. The Installer will scan your computer for prerequisites and begin downloading necessary files after you accept any relevant End User License Agreements.
  • Reboot as necessary. When the computer restarts and you have logged in again, the Installer will automatically begin again.
  • Once all prerequisites are installed, the Installer will download the most recent version of Lutheran Service Builder and will start the Windows Installer.
  • Fill out any required fields as necessary.
  • The Installer will scan your network for available database (called SQL) servers. Once it has done so, you will be presented with a list of databases to which you have access and can install Builder's database files. We recommend you install the databases to My Computer (selected by default).
  • The Installer will then download required databases from the CPH server and install them to your system.
  • Once this is completed, your existing Lutheran Service Builder 1.x user database will be copied over to Builder 2. If the Installer is not able to find your user database, it will ask you to locate it. If you do not have one, or do not have Builder 1.x installed, it will create a new one automatically.
  • You're done!

When the Installer is finished, start up Lutheran Service Builder 2 using the icon on your desktop. You should be all set to begin experiencing our revolutionary new features and interface improvements!

(Note that Builder 2 does not replace Builder 1.x on your computer. If you run into problems with version 2, you can return to version 1.x as needed. This is a safety measure taken to ensure that you will be able to produce your services if something goes wrong with the beta installation.)
